FCA Bank

FCA Bank is a bank arising from a joint venture between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Crédit Agricole Consumer Finance.
== History ==
As soon as the car began to have a large distribution, FIAT realized the need to support car’s sales offering the possibility for monthly payments. On 25 April 1925 SAVA (acronym of Società Anonima Vendita Automobili) was established in Turin, Italy when the "509" model was put on the market. The "509" was the first FIAT model sold on credit. The finance house however also offered financing for the purchases of cars produced by other brands.
On 15 March 1930 the board of directors of SAVA approved a share capital increase of 4,000,000 Lire and afterwards, on 11 April of that same year, FIAT purchased the entire shareholding. As sole shareholder, it decided that the disbursement of loans should be restricted to FIAT products only, starting from 1 January 1931.
In 1938, in order to dispose of the big number of used cars, SAVA started to finance, through hire purchase solutions specific for the second-hand cars.
During the years following World War II, when the great motoring phase was getting off to a start in Italy at the same time of the economic miracle, SAVA approved a number of share capital increases that took it to 80,000,000 Lire in 1947, 150,000,000 Lire in 1950, 1,500,000,000 Lire in 1953, and 2,500,000,000 Lire in 1962. It thus became an important financial mediator between FIAT and its potential clientele (acting as important financial mediator between FIAT and potential customers).
In 2003 Sava was placed under Fidis Retail Italia, 51% of which was sold to Banca Intesa, Sanpaolo IMI, Capitalia andUnicredit, while 49% remained with Fiat Auto.
In 2006 a change took place for the company with the establishment of the joint venture between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Crédit Agricole Consumer Finance, two leaders in their respective sectors of reference, while keeping its nature of captive financial company unaltered.
After having changed two names (Fiat Auto Financial Services and Fiat Group Automobiles Financial Services), the company took on the new name of FGA Capital S.p.A.
After initiating the project to convert the company into a bank in 2012, in December 2013 an application was submitted to the Supervisory Authority to obtain authorisation to carry on the banking business following the renewal of the agreements between Crédit Agricole, Crédit Agricole Consumer Finance and FCA.
On 16 January 2015 FCA Bank S.p.A. was born. After obtaining its banking licence in Italy, the new company of FCA Italy S.p.A. (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group company) and CA Consumer Finance S.A. (Crédit Agricole group company).
